The beauty of being part of a Diocese like Parramatta is the fact that there are so many resources to enrich the lives and faith of all Parishioners. Listed below are a few of the many resources and services available in the Blacktown Area and beyond that you might find helpful in the development of your faith life.

CHILD PROTECTION

THE SANCTITY OF CHILDHOOD

When I was a child there were no fences around our school, there were no Working With Children Checks and no one who visited my school had to sign in as a visitor. I walked to school and later played in the streets with friends until sundown.

How different life is for our children today! We have become super vigilant, and rightly so, in our protecting our children.

Both our society and our Church have become acutely aware of the sacredness of childhood, albeit as a result of abuse. Pope Francis recently said:

to see children suffer, wounds our hearts because children are Jesus’ favourites. We can never accept that they are mistreated, that they are denied the right to live out their childhood peacefully and joyfully, that they are denied a future of hope.

At Mary Queen of the Family we want to do everything possible to support the sacredness of childhood, be it in our family, schools and places of worship.

I commend to you the material from the Diocesan Office of Safeguarding. With the blessing of Bishop Vincent, it seeks to uphold the vision of Pope Francis, giving all our children a future of hope.
