Catechists

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor” (Lk.4:18)

The diocese provides a ministry to students in state schools through groups of volunteer catechists (SRE Teachers) in each parish. Our volunteer SRE teachers carry to the students in the state schools the message that Jesus came to bring. Since this ministry is carried on within a school context, it has of necessity to be in the nature of a sound educational activity.

These volunteer catechists are authorised by the local parish priest, to teach in specified schools within the parish. SRE teachers go into the local state school on behalf of the local parish who support the ministry of the catechists by their prayer and interest.

Mary, Queen of the Family Parish has a team of enthusiastic SRE teachers who State School Students in five Primary Schools and two High Schools within our Parish.

To continue this vital ministry we need YOUR HELP.
